2024 at NSC A very happy new year from Newtownards Sailing Club - it promises to be a great one! August 2024 marks 60 years since the opening of the club in 1964. A special event will be planned to celebrate the anniversary with all NSC members, family and friends. In the meantime, there's plenty to keep us entertained on the water and in the clubhouse... We're hosting the Irish Nationals! NSC has been selected to host the GP14 Championship of Ireland 2024. The three-day event will run on June 28th, 29th and 30th at Newtownards - and normally attracts around 40 boats. NSC Sailing Secretary and Event Director Jennifer Bryce said: "I'm thrilled we are hosting the biggest event in the Irish GP sailing calendar. We expect to welcome around 80 sailors from across the island of Ireland, many of whom will want to bring their families along and camp on site. "This will be a huge team effort to organise, from safety cover on the water to food and live music in the clubhouse - so the preparations start now!" Volunteers will be needed to support in the clubhouse, around the slipway and on the water over the three days and in the lead up. If you can help, please email jenniferbryce@ymail.com Annual Prizegiving Our annual Prizegiving Night is scheduled for Saturday 13th April. Trophies will be awarded to sailors and windsurfers for the 2023 season, with dinner and music as we also celebrate the beginning of the 2024 sailing year. Further details will be shared in due course. Dates for your diary

🔨GROUNDS WORK🪜
Some of our long-standing members have started a Wrinklies Tuesday Club! Two projects are currently underway: 1. At the grounds entrance, the old fencing has been removed, the bank cleared and ground re-seeded with grass. 2. At the green container - new support bracing has been fitted and the area underneath cleared. The initial purpose here was to support the fencing but in due course this area could be roofed and use for storage. A huge thanks to the “Wrinklies” for this much needed effort! If any other members would like to get involved, please contact John Clementson or Brian Andrews. NSC WhatsApp group launched! Thanks to everybody who has signed up to be added to the official WhatsApp group. The first post from the Commodore is now live.
